Barely 24 hours after Peoria’s winning $46.7 million bid to acquire 835 acres of state trust land, city officials had a lot to share during their Aug. 28 special council meeting.

First, the city unveiled a more than six-month plan to move Amkor from Vistancia’s commercial core, where residents have pushed for its removal, to the Peoria Innovation Core near Lake Pleasant Parkway and Loop 303.

Then, Peoria City Council approved a number of agreements at the meeting to pave the way for this to happen, including an agreement that will allow Amkor’s construction in the innovation core to begin Sept. 2.

The city also announced at the meeting that HonorHealth and West-MEC facilities will be built in Vistancia’s commercial core, where the testing and packaging fab initially was planned.
