SAGINAW, MI — A little girl lay in bed early one April morning, awakened by a man saying he wouldn’t harm her or any other children present. Moments later, she feigned sleep as gunshots tore through a Saginaw house.
When she emerged from the covers after the clamor ended, she found the wounded form of a family friend on the floor. The injured woman, a traveling nurse’s assistant from California, would perish from two bullet wounds to her head.
