LSU is set to kick off the 2025 football season on Saturday night at Clemson . This is the start of Brian Kelly's fourth season at LSU and the team is led by senior quarterback Garrett Nussmeier , a preseason Heisman Trophy candidate favorite. Despite Nussmeier's preseason knee tendinitis, Kelly said his quarterback is "100%" and he expects everyone to be available.

On the other sideline, Clemson is also led by a senior preseason Heisman Trophy candidate in quarterback Cade Klubnik. This marks the start of coach Dabo Swinney's 18th season as Clemson's head coach.
