PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- A local mom is partnering with four others in a collaboration to fund pediatric cancer research.
Sam Day was 9 years old when he was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer.
After fighting the disease for six years, Ewing Sarcoma took Sam's life in August 2016.
Sam's mother, Lorna, now heads the Sam Day Foundation, funding research and treatments.
In a first-of-its-kind collaboration, the Sam Day Foundation is partnering with four other mom-led foundations to fund a $1.5 million research grant aimed at advancing treatments for Ewing Sarcoma.
You can learn more about the initiative, donate, or sign up for the Sam Day 37 Mile Challenge that kicks off tomorrow on the official website.
