Clinton Township — A Clinton Township caregiver will stand trial on charges alleging she fraudulently took power of attorney over a client's husband and removed him from life support after a stroke for her own gain, a judge ruled Friday.

Linda Polk is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of forgery, one count of embezzlement from a vulnerable adult, two counts of identity theft and two counts of illegal use of a credit card. If convicted of murder, she faces up to life in prison.

Polk allegedly began providing in-home care for Jill Margolick, of Macomb Township, in spring 2021. By early 2024, Margolick's 78-year-old husband, Steven Zarnowitz, began to decline in health.
