Disgraced former San Jose council member Omar Torres was scheduled to appear in court Friday for his sentencing hearing.
Torres pleaded no contest in April to multiple sex crimes. The charges will be sentenced for are sodomy and oral copulation by force, violence, duress, menace or fear, and lewd and lascivious acts on a minor under the age of 14, according to the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office.
Torres, who was a teenager at the time, molested the victim numerous times starting when the victim was 4 years old, according to prosecutors.
Torres faces a maximum sentence of 18 years in prison and must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, the DA said.
