(NewsNation) — The American Gaming Association has announced Americans are expected to wager approximately $30 billion on the upcoming NFL season.
The $30 billion estimate would represent an 8.5% increase compared to the 2024 NFL season, when bettors wagered $27.6 billion.
The estimate includes legal bets on preseason games, futures placed as early as March, the playoffs and the Super Bowl.
A futures bet is a wager placed on a game or event that will occur in the future, not on the same day as the bet is placed.
Sports betting is growing increasingly popular and accepted, according to the AGA, as 75% of Americans support legal sports betting in their state and 90% view sports betting as a form of acceptable entertainment.
