The mafia and New York have a rich history together. Not just New York City, but the entire state has had organized crime touch it. From Upstate to Western New York, you can trace the roots of the mob.

Obviously New York isn't the only place you'll find the mafia. New Jersey has major ties to the mob as well as Chicago. Who hasn't heard of Al Capon and the St. Valentine's Day massacre?

Up until the 1970s and 80s the Mafia was kind of untouchable until you really saw a crackdown. Even when the mafia was taking hits they were still operating, but things in 2025 are a bit different than what we saw on shows the "The Sopranos" or movies like "Goodfellas." They're a bit more strategic now and have evolved with the times.
