A 38-year-old man today was sentenced to 77 years in prison for charges including felony murder stemming from a 2023 fatal shooting.

Jurors last month found Royal R. Davis Jr. of Fort Wayne guilty on all charges: felony murder, attempted robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, battery by means of a deadly weapon and resisting law enforcement, along with a sentencing enhancement for using a gun to commit the crime. He is one of three people charged in connection to the homicide of 28-year-old Travis Gilbert, who was found with a gunshot wound to his chest on Sept. 15, 2023.
