After years of work, another draft of Bozeman’s proposed Unified Development Code rewrite is expected to come out in mid-September.

Commissioners held the final work session planned for this round of the code update this week. They gave staff direction for code language revolving around the mass of buildings and commercial uses in residential areas.

Staff plan to release a draft code Sept. 19, Community Development Manager Chris Saunders told commissioners at the meeting.

“When this draft comes out the key word is 'draft',” City Manager Chuck Winn said. “The commission will have the opportunity to thoroughly review it, as will the public, and again it’s a draft, it’s not final, so we know there's going to be more public engagement.”
