These candidates qualified for the ballot in Columbia County

EVANS, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The qualifying period has now ended for various races in Columbia County.

The special election will be Nov. 4. Qualifying for teh ballot were Howard W. Johnson V (Democrat) and Jim Steed (Republican).

Councilwoman Sylvia Martin and Councilwoman Ceretta Smith’s terms are up in December. The people running to fill those seats are Sylvia Martin (incumbent), Jacqueline Rivera-Player, Veronica Simpkins and Kay Turner.

Councilwoman Ceretta Smith did not qualify for reelection.
