A rousing “Huzzah!” burst forth from the crowd as the ceremonial scissors snipped the bright red ribbon in half, ushering in a new era for King Richard’s Faire in Carver.

The long-running Renaissance fair will officially open for its 44th season on Saturday, Aug. 30, at its new location, the former Edaville Family Theme Park. Dozens gathered at 5 Pine St. two days prior to get a sneak peak of what was to come at the larger, more accessible site, marrying the old Faire with some new features.

“The word that comes to mind is ‘blessed,’” said Kirk Simpson, who has played King Richard XI since 2019. “It’s just an amazing opportunity of growth, of magic, creativity and imagination.”
