One person is dead after an apartment fire in Owensboro

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- An Owensboro apartment fire claimed the life of one person on Thursday.

Officials with the Owensboro Fire Department say firefighters were called to a fire in a four-plex apartment building in the 3900 block of Evergreen Drive. Before firefighters made it on scene, an OPD officer responded to the fire and a found resident still inside. The officer entered the apartment, rescued the resident and brought them outside where fire and EMS personnel immediately began treatment.

Officials go on to say firefighters were able to stop the fire from spreading to other units in the building. No injuries or damage were reported in the unaffected units.
