CLEVELAND, Ohio - A Cuyahoga County judge has ordered a state mental hospital to provide more details about suspected drug abuse involving a defendant charged with killing a police officer.
Common Pleas Judge Ashley Kilbane issued the order this week after receiving reports that De’Lawnte Hardy may have ingested drugs while undergoing treatment at Central Ohio Behavioral Healthcare.
Hardy, 26, is accused of killing Cleveland police officer Jamieson Ritter as the officer attempted to serve a warrant on July 4, 2024. Days earlier, prosecutors say, Hardy shot and killed his grandmother. He has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder and other charges.
