On Friday, a new trial was ordered for three officers who had previously been convicted in the fatal beating of Tyre Nichols in Memphis, Tennessee.

A judge issued the new trial order after defense lawyers argued the previous judge was biased.

Nichols died three days after five officers were caught on video kicking, punching and beating him with a police baton.

U.S. District Judge Sheryl H. Lipman issued the new trial order on Friday after defense lawyers argued that the judge who presided over their clients’ case was biased in his belief that at least one of the men was in a gang.
