The Big 12 champion Arizona State Sun Devils open the 2025 college football season against Northern Arizona University at 7 p.m. MST Saturday, Aug. 30, at Mountain America Stadium, in the first in a two-game series between the in-state public schools that will pay the FCS Lumberjacks more than $1 million.

The game will stream on ESPN+ and broadcast on ESPN 620 AM and Sirius XM radio.

ASU, which is favored to win by more than four touchdowns (-28.5 points), will pay NAU more than a half-million dollars to play this weekend, according to a contract between the schools signed in 2016 and obtained by The Arizona Republic through a public records request. The contract established games between the Sun Devils and Lumberjacks in 2025 and 2028, with both games played in Tempe.
