CLEVELAND (WJW) -- The Fox 8 I-Team was rolling its cameras as Cleveland police awarded some of the department's highest honors to fallen officer Jamieson Ritter, who was killed in the line of duty on July 4, 2024.

Police officials awarded Jamieson Ritter the police star for his sacrifice during an awards ceremony Friday. His family accepted the medal as everyone in the ceremony gave a standing ovation.

"We're very proud," said Jon Ritter, Jamieson's father, who attended the event with other family members.

Jamieson's parents said they want their son to always be remembered.

Jamieson was shot and killed last year trying to arrest a wanted man.
