ASHEVILLE, N.C. (WSPA) -- Officials have reopened part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, restoring access to more than 85 miles of the park.

Park leaders said the parkway opened from milepost 420.2 to milepost 423.2 near Devil's Courthouse, after finishing a landslide repair that was caused by Hurricane Helene.

The project's completion allows access to the parkway from milepost 382 in Asheville to the south end of the park at milepost 469, near Cherokee.

The Devil's Courthouse overlook and trail are also open to visitors, officials said.

Leaders ask that people be patient and respect existing parkway closures, as hazards remain in closed areas.
