White sharks have appeared around Cape Cod, with several appearing in the waters of Cape Cod Bay over a two-day period in the last week.
Around 15 sharks were seen or detected around the cape since Friday, Aug. 27, with two signs of shark predation also spotted on separate beaches, according to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy based in Chatham. All of these sightings were catalogued on the conservancy’s shark-tracking app, Sharktivity .
Within Cape Cod Bay, around seven of them were spotted between Aug. 25 and Aug. 26. One shark was seen north of Sandy Neck Beach in Barnstable at around 4:02 p.m. on Aug. 25. Another shark had been seen in the area, which observers noted had “part of his tail fin bitten off.”
Another shark seen in the area was a juvenile white shark photographed
