FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A Fort Wayne death doula who is suing the state will be allowed to continue her work as the lawsuit continues, a federal appeals court affirmed this week.

Lauren Richwine, owner of Death Done Differently, says her business helps families navigate the death of a loved one by answering questions, navigating paperwork, or connecting them with grief counselors.

Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita’s office received a complaint in 2021, questioning why Richwine does not have a funeral director’s license. In 2023, the State Board of Funeral and Cemetery Service filed a cease-and-desist order against Richwine and her business, forcing her to close.
