ST. LOUIS — A man received a life prison sentence plus an extra 10 years behind bars Thursday after pleading guilty to a 2023 murder near a MetroLink stop.
As part of a plea agreement, Demetrius Strother, 22, of St. Louis, admitted to to second-degree murder, first-degree robbery and two counts of armed criminal action, the St. Louis County prosecutor's office said Friday.
His sentence includes the eventual possibility of parole. Prior to the agreement, a trial had been set in his case.
Prosecutors said Strother admitted to shooting Jaylin Johnson, 19, of Manchester, on July 6, 2023, after both exited a MetroLink train in St. Louis County.
Prosecutors said Strother and accomplices left the train in Pagedale, and that one of Strother's co-defendants was holding the victim's hand before
