WASHINGTON — Tensions are high as communities in D.C. face an increased presence of federal agents working alongside the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) as part of the Trump administration's federal surge.

Local police officers and federal agents have been conducting enforcement operations across the District as part of President Donald Trump's efforts to crack down on crime in the nation's capital. Data provided by Mayor Muriel Bowser's office shows that during the period of Aug. 7 through Tuesday, violent crime has decreased 45% compared to the same period last year.
