The Brockville Police Service will get its own separate reserve fund , following council’s unanimous decision to approve the measure earlier this week.
The decision became unanimous when one council member who previously opposed the move had a change of heart during discussions at Tuesday’s regular council meeting. Council ultimately approved the motion in an 8-0 vote, with Coun. Cameron Wales not at the meeting.

Council’s general committee earlier this month recommended setting up the separate reserve fund, to be managed by the police services board. That fund will take in annual revenue surpluses generated by the police force, but police deficits will still be covered by city taxpayers.
