DONALD Trump's sweeping global tariffs have been declared illegal by the Appeals Court.
In a striking blow to the US President's trade policy, the court ruled he had no legal right to impose sweeping tariffs and wasn't legally allowed to declare national emergencies.
The President's levies will be allowed to remain, the court said, adding that the ruling wouldn't come into play until 14 October.
The court said US law “bestows significant authority on the president to undertake a number of actions in response to a declared national emergency,
"But none of these actions explicitly include the power to impose tariffs, duties, or the like, or the power to tax”.
It comes just months after Trump had his global tariffs reinstated by a federal appeals court following a temporary block.
