RCMP has opened a new file after a senior staff member with the City of Penticton was alleged to have been threatened by a member of the public.
“Following a recent transportation-related matter, this individual (staffer) was targeted on social media and, more alarmingly, received a threat of violence. Threats of violence are completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. We are working closely with law enforcement to ensure the safety of our staff and to fully investigate the threat,” city manager Anthony Haddad said.
In a lengthy press release, which included a statement from Mayor Julius Bloomfield, Haddad acknowledged that transportation planning “can be passionate” and divisive.
