SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - A man was charged with second-degree murder in connection to the fatal shooting of a teenage girl last month.

On July 27, at about 1:40 a.m., Shreveport Police Department patrol officers responded to a shooting at 1727 N. Market Street, near Superior Smoke Shop.

When they got there, officers found 16-year-old Hailey McDonald suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body.

She was taken by Shreveport Fire Department medics to Ochsner LSU Health, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival.
