ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – A local non-profit set up shop Friday morning at Robinson Park to reach out to the local homeless population. TenderLove Community Center held its annual Kindness-in-Action event. Volunteers handed out shoes, food, and housing vouchers.

Tender Love's founder said she was inspired to reach out to the homeless after her own experience on the streets. "You can imagine, I was homeless for only three months. I can say only three months now, then it was not "only". Compared to people who have been on the streets for years. So we are here to show them the empathy, let them know that we are here to support them," said Debbie Johnson, founder of TenderLove Community Center.

The shoes were new and gently used, collected from the community.
