DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - Decatur Public Schools is looking for Adopt A School partners to help its schools and students benefit from additional resources and support.

DPS said in an Aug. 29 press release that it wants to partner with churches, businesses and local organizations to establish a working relationship and determine how to partner resources and interests within each school.

DPS listed some ideas on how to support its schools, which include volunteering at school projects or events, reading to students, volunteering in a classroom, mentoring students, donating supplies, etc.

Those interested in partnering with one or more DPS schools can attend the Adopt A School Kickoff Event from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 10, in the Shilling Education Center at Scovill Zoo.
