KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — 20 years after Hurricane Katrina made landfall in Louisiana, a New Orleans woman is remembering that day.

Shelly Spoon said hurricanes were nothing new to her, but this one was different. She planned on riding out the storm and giving birth soon after. Things quickly changed.

"We'd left so many times and nothing happened, or just the power was out for a little while. I thought if I went to the hospital, I would be safe. Well, that hospital went underwater," Spoon said.

She managed to get to family in Florida before the storm hit. Six days later, she had her son, Luke. Spoon said her emotions were running high, not knowing what things looked like back home.
