NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The Nashville Department of Transportation (NDOT) announced the addition of 25 new streets to their Traffic Calming Program Friday despite only completing 10 percent of the projects in the program last year.
Of the 59 streets chosen for traffic calming improvements in 2024, NDOT says they’ve only completed six with eight projects in progress and 45 that have yet to be started. Of those chosen in 2023, 66 have been completed, 14 are still in progress and 58 have yet to be started.
“These things take so long, and that’s the number one thing we hear from our neighborhoods, is it takes so long, and it’s such a long process to get it, and all they want is safety for their neighborhoods,” said advocacy coordinator for Walk Bike Nashville Izi Witt.
