WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - From its sparkling waterfront to downtown attractions, Washington is a favorite for many locals.

“I lived here in Washington for about 25 years, and I really love Washington,” Former Washington resident Richard Janson says.

Now, the city has been recognized by the magazine Southern Living as the “Most Charming Waterfront Town You’ve Never Heard Of.”

“There’s no better place for it than right here,” resident Clyde Elks says about the waterfront. “It just makes me want to get up when that sun comes up, and try to come out here, and just enjoy the day.”
