The Colorado volleyball team kicked off the 10th season under head coach Jesse Mahoney in victorious fashion.

The Buffaloes opened the campaign on Friday by sweeping Cleveland State, posting a 25-15, 25-17, 25-19 victory in the opening match of the Rumble in the Rockies at Wyoming.

The Buffs used an 8-2 run to take control of the first set, turning a 7-5 deficit into a 13-9 lead before scoring five of the final six points of the frame.

CU never trailed in the second set after jumping to a 6-1 lead. Cleveland State, an NCAA Tournament team last year, tried to rally early in the third set, taking a 5-2 lead, but seven consecutive points from the Buffs gave CU the lead for good.
