ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) -The city of St. Louis is adding to its snowplow fleet, after a long stretch of icy weather left many side streets frozen over for days last winter.

This week, four Ford 350 single-cab trucks were delivered to the city’s streets department, equipped with snowplows. The trucks are much smaller than the rest of the city’s traditional snowplow fleet, allowing them to navigate side streets in an easier, safer manner.

The trucks will also be dual purpose, meaning they will be used for other jobs during the off-winter months.

The fleet was purchased last spring using more than $300,000 in ARPA funding, after former Mayor Tishaura Jones’ administration suffered serious backlash over the lack of attention to hundreds of the city’s side streets.
