ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - The howler monkey family at the Abilene Zoo has welcomed a new baby.
Howler monkeys are part of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums’ Species Survival Plan, a cooperative program designed to maintain a healthy, genetically diverse population across AZA-accredited zoos.
The baby can currently be seen clinging tightly to its mother as it adjusts to life. It is the offspring of Beatle and Dante, the zoo’s resident howler monkeys.
The baby’s gender has not yet been determined, as zoo staff are waiting for it to grow a little more before confirming.
