YAKIMA COUNTY, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has announced several highway construction projects in the Yakima Valley starting after Labor Day weekend.

Beginning Tuesday, September 2, crews will start building a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 97 and Lateral A in Wapato. During construction, U.S. 97 traffic will be limited to a single lane in each direction. Left turns from northbound traffic onto Lateral A will be prohibited. The project is expected to finish in the summer of 2026.

After the holiday weekend, work will resume on State Route 821 between Firing Center Road and Pomona View Mobile Park in East Selah. WSDOT stated that traffic through the work zone will likely be reduced to a single lane in either direction, with work occurring exclu
