The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman in the fatal hit-and-run that killed a Slidell-area child , saying Friday night that the man previously arrested in connection with the Aug. 13 incident was not involved.

The Sheriff's Office said 40-year-old Connie Noel Estes, also known as Connie Noel Flettrich or Noel Gorgone, of Slidell, was taken into custody and will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center on a count of felony hit and run with death or serious bodily injury and a count of felony obstruction of justice.

The Sheriff's Office said new evidence indicates Estes allegedly drove a silver Nissan Armada on Northshore Lane near Slidell that evening and struck the 6-year-old child, who had been riding a scooter in his driveway. The boy died later
