BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - North Dakota’s unemployment rate for June was 2.6%. It ranked second only to South Dakota.

Despite the low unemployment rate and high labor force participation rate, there are a lot of job openings. This is particularly true in the Healthcare industry, as well as Retail. However, Job Service North Dakota remains confident.

“Our local workforce centers throughout the state are doing what ever they can and are working with job seekers and getting them matched and their skills matched to some of our job openings that we’re seeing, which is primarily in the health care and social assistance industry as well as retail trade, that’s where we’re seeing a lot of the opening,” said Marcia Havens, labor market information manager for Job Service North Dakota.
