LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — The Powerball lottery hit the sixth-largest jackpot in its history ahead of the Aug. 30 drawing, and the Arkansas LOTTO closes in on $1 million.

According to a press release, the Powerball jackpot reaches $1 billion while the Arkansas LOTTO climbs to $955,000.

This is the sixth time the Powerball jackpot has reached $1 billion.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. Tickets cost $2 per play and ticket sales cut off at 8:59 p.m. on the night of the drawing.

Drawings for the Arkansas LOTTO are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 9 p.m.
