A new report by the City Council’s Oversight and Investigations Division details how many “ghost plates” — plates that are obscured or mismatched — can be found throughout the city.

The report included a survey of 3,500 parked cars across 10 police precincts in New York, finding that 768 of them did not have New York State license plates.

The Bronx saw the highest concentration of ghost vehicles, with Brooklyn and Queens following close behind.

The report concludes that more enforcement is needed to protect the public.

City Councilwoman Gale Brewer — who represents the neighborhoods of the Upper West Side, Lincoln Square and Hell’s Kitchen in Manhattan — joined “Inside City Hall” to discuss the report.

Brewer is also the chair of the council’s Committee on Oversight and Investigations
