NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Due to severe storms in northern New Mexico, the Santa Fe National Forest is closing some trailheads. Officials said multiple roads were damaged following the storms, and they urged visitors to use extreme caution over the Labor Day weekend as more storms are forecast. Forest officials say heavy rainfall over the past several days has saturated the soil and caused high water levels in rivers and streams throughout the forest.

The damaged roads are: • Pecos/Las Vegas (Forest Roads 86, 123, 123A, 223, 263, 646) • Española (Forest Road 31) • Jemez (Forest Road 270) • Coyote (Forest Road 151)
