An Ohio man was injured after the plane he was piloting crashed and caught fire in Livingston County, authorities said Friday.
At about 3:51 p.m. Thursday, a small, single-engine airplane piloted by a 22-year-old man crashed at the southern end of a field in Unadilla Township, according to a social media post from the Unadilla Township Police Department.
First responders arrived after receiving a crash detection notification from a mobile phone, followed by calls from nearby residents, police said. They found the pilot outside of the aircraft with "significant injuries."
The pilot, who has not been identified by officials, was transported to the University of Michigan Hospital. His condition as of Friday wasn't immediately available. Authorities said he had been flying from Charlevoix,
