People rallied outside a Loudoun County, Virginia, sheriff’s precinct Thursday night to draw attention to its cooperation with Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Dozens gathered at a regularly held coffee with a cop event that typically draws five or six people.

"We're having a rally against Sheriff [Mike] Chapman and his agreement of the 287(g) program with ICE," teacher Cory Brunet said outside the event.

Under that program , local police agree to detain someone in custody for up to 48 hours to give ICE an opportunity to pick them up. The Loudoun County Sheriff's Office tells the community the policy only applies to people who are already in custody for other crimes.
