GREEN BAY - Green Bay Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst admitted he felt the chances of landing a player of Micah Parsons ’ caliber could be slim.

But it didn’t stop the mission of bringing the three-time All-Pro defensive end to Green Bay.

“I don’t think it was really until the last few days that I actually thought, ‘Hey, there’s an opportunity here to really close this thing out,’” Gutekunst said during his Aug. 29 news conference. “In fairness, I’ve been through a bunch of these, that no one has ever heard of, but that’s how it goes. You talk, you talk, and then realize there wasn’t an opportunity. When the opportunity kind of opened a little bit you really thought this could happen and it was exciting, so we kept in it.”
