The reported theft at Semiahmoo Mall in Surrey on Thursday turned out to be a robbery at White Rock Jewellers.

The theft happened around 5:30 p.m., and according to the owners, this is the 5th time something like this has happened, just days after reopening following a similar incident in March of 2024.

“I was just shocked and panicking inside,” said Jenny Nyguen, an employee at White Rock Jewellers.

Surveillance footage from the store shows a man in a blue sweatshirt, black shorts, and a black hat, seemingly shopping, browsing at one of the displays before quickly leaving.

Just eight minutes later, the same man came back in through the side entrance and began smashing a display with a tool in his hand – and running away with what the owners say was $100,000 in merchandise.
