NEDERLAND, Texas — After years of delays, Nederland residents may soon see long-awaited improvements to the city’s century-old sewer system. City council members are set to vote Sept. 8 on a project aimed at helping neighborhood streets drain water more efficiently.
Council members say the need is urgent. “Citizens often can't use their basic household water because it won't drain because the lines are full,” Councilman Britton Jones said. “What’s happening is rainwater is getting into that sanitary sewer line, which is supposed to be a closed system.”
