ASHEVILLE – Mountain Heritage football entered its Aug. 29 game against Erwin with a simple strategy: The best defense is a good offense.

The No. 4 Cougars (2-0) held the ball for more than 35 minutes in a 30-15 victory, turning to six different ball carriers to rush for 304 yards and shorten the time on the field for an explosive Warriors offense.
