Forget the late pick-six. Forget the false starts in the red zone. Forget the on-side kick.

Forget the four sacks, if you can. And forget even the (mostly) flat second half. Michigan State football still looks improved.

How much is hard to say. Western Michigan didn’t look like a contender for the MAC this year. Still, MSU's offensive line looked better, especially in the run game, and the Spartans found a speedy playmaker on the edge in Middle Tennessee State transfer Omari Kelly. Those are positives.
