LORDSTOWN, Ohio - A Trumbull County Girl Scout has completed a project, aiming to receive her Gold Award.
The Gold Award, according to Girl Scout Sophia Dye, is awarded to juniors or seniors who complete a project that helps a community in need.
Examples given by Dye were projects such as a bee box, a wildlife project or, as Dye has completed, a food box.
"I know a lot of people that can't afford food with all the pricing and stuff nowadays, so I figured I would help out the community that I grew up in," said Dye.
The box includes non-perishable foods, canned goods, pastas, juices and much more.
In addition to non-perishable goods, the box also contains hygiene products such as razors, socks, toothbrushes and more.
Dye told 21 News that some items are in higher demand at the pantry
