ARMADA — Like most of the high school football games between Armada and Marine City in recent years , this one came down to the wire.
And, just like the previous three meetings, Armada came out on top.
The Tigers took advantage of turnovers to hold off the Mariners, 21-14, at Doc Orv Krause Field on Friday, Aug. 29.
Jackson Malburg rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns for Armada in the season opener for both teams.
“In the past, it’s been close (when these teams meet),” Armada coach Kyle Rowley said. “Tonight, I have to put everything (on the) defense. Defense is the reason we won this game. Offense was not good. Offense is a problem right now and we really need to get that fixed.”
Lyncoln Osterland had two rushing touchdowns to lead Marine City.
