MOORHEAD — Millions of Americans are hitting the road for Labor Day weekend, but packed highways are already leading to close calls and travel delays.
With traffic picking up, safety officials are urging drivers to stay alert.
“Packed traffic can mean more crashes,” said Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Jesse Grabow, who noted that many holiday weekend crashes are preventable.
“When we go through these holiday weekends a number of times, we see so many of these serious injury and fatal type crashes. They generally are caused from impaired driving, distracted driving, aggressive, reckless speeds and, of course, not wearing seat belts,” Grabow said.
